Adding a new product
You can start a new product from either view: Inventory › Product list or Inventory › Product grid — both have an Add new item button. (If you are already inside a category in the list, the wizard skips the category step.)
The creation wizard
A short wizard collects the essentials:
- Category — pick the category the product belongs to (you can change it later). If you need a category that doesn't exist yet, create it first under Inventory › Category — see Categories, brands & tags.
- Product label — type the product name. Names are per language: fill the flag tabs you use. You don't have to fill every language — any languages you leave empty are automatically copied from the ones you filled. The name is the only required field in the whole wizard.
- VAT — select the sales VAT rate for the product.
- Default price — enter the selling price including VAT.
When you confirm, the system automatically generates:
- a unique 10-digit barcode (type CODE 128),
- a reference number (initially the same as the barcode),
- default purchase VAT, brand and supplier (the first active ones),
- the product's creation date.
The full product editor then opens with your new product loaded.
First things to check on a new product
- Publish it — the Published / Unpublished switch is on the Settings tab. New products from the grid popup start unpublished; flip the switch when the product is ready.
- Prices — the Price tab holds the net/gross selling price and discount modules (general discount, Buy X Get X, quantity breaks).
- Stock — the Stock tab is where you set the unit of measurement, stock thresholds and the initial stock per warehouse — see Managing stock on a product.
- Images — the Media tab: drag & drop photos onto the upload zone.
- Barcodes & extra prices — additional barcodes, box codes and per-warehouse price rows live in the Multi-Price & Barcode Manager on the Settings tab — see Multi-code & pricing rows.
Duplicating an existing product
If a new product is similar to an old one, open the old product's row in the Product list (gear icon) or its tile dropdown in the grid, and choose Duplicate. A copy opens for editing — remember to change at least the name and barcode before saving.
Importing many products at once
To create dozens or hundreds of products from a spreadsheet, use Inventory › Tools › Import products — see Importing products from a file.
