Warehouses, shelves & stock types
Stock always lives somewhere: a product's quantity is recorded per warehouse (location) and shelf. These lists are managed under Inventory › Locations / Shelves / Stock type, using the same maintenance pattern as categories and brands (searchable list, add/edit, drag to reorder, visible/invisible switch, per-language names).
Locations (warehouses & stores)
A location is a physical place stock is kept — a warehouse, a back room, a store. Fields:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Status | Visible/invisible. |
| Is main warehouse | Marks the default location. New stock rows default to it. |
| Name | Per-language name. |
| City / Address / ZIP | Physical address (the Cities button manages the city list). |
| E-mail / Phone | Contact details. |
| Logo | An image for the location. |
Locations appear in: the product's Stock tab, stock transfers (from/to), purchase order receiving destinations, list filters, and the label maker's location pricing.
Shelves
Shelves subdivide a location — aisle, rack, bin. Each shelf belongs to exactly one location (chosen in the shelf editor); whenever you pick a location anywhere in the system, the shelf list is filtered to that location's shelves.
Stock types
A stock type is the product's unit of measurement or stock class — e.g. pieces, kilograms, litres. Fields:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Status | Visible/invisible. |
| Name | Per-language name. |
| Default | The default stock type for new products. |
| Stock alert qty | The low-stock bell: alert threshold used by stock alerts and reports. |
The stock type is set per product on its Stock tab, together with weight and volume units. The Type of unit radio (Other / Kilograms / Litres) tells the system how to treat the product in weight-based selling.
Typical setup
- Create at least one location and mark your main warehouse.
- Add shelves to each location where you need finer placement.
- Check that the stock types you sell by (pcs, kg, …) exist and have a sensible alert quantity.
- Only then start filling stock — every stock row needs a location and can have a shelf.
See Managing stock on a product for how stock quantities are entered and adjusted.
